After school today I stopped at a pawn shop in town that buys and sells scrap gold and silver coins... Thanks to my newest edition of the Charlton I cherry picked two 1949-9 halves and a few other nice coins. Tell me how I did! (Total cost 35 CAD- now that I look at it, I think the guy must have messed up his math cause that's quite a bit under scrap...)
Pre-emptively sorry about the bad pictures, if you want closeups of any of the coins I'll happily upload them.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Actually i just got a chance to look at the catalogue values for these coins, and though most of them i knew already i think i hit a JACKPOT with the 1 mark! Can anyone confirm?

Quote: "Idolenz"And why is the infinitely more rare 1909E with just -2 in existence or better non-existence less valuable?
My 2015 SCWC says "Included below" for the 1909E mintage, but doesn't really specify what exactly it is included within. The 1909G mintage perhaps (which is 854,000).
I love rummaging through the silver scrap bucket at my LCS. Most of it really is only worth its silver weight, but sometimes even that comes in the form of big Mexican silver coins in XF or AU (last time I picked up a 5 peso coin and a 100 peso coin, each worth about $12 in silver). Lots of UNC Canadian dimes and quarters. I got a 1934 UK shilling and a very worn 1849 shilling from that bucket, as well as a 2 mark from Bavaria (book value $25 but I paid $4!).
