Inspired by the Canadian 50 cents 2010 which is sort of holographic, displays a different image when viewed from different angles, I wondered about what we might see next - I suggest micro-chipped coins playing short animations (of the GIF or Flash variety), and if I am to be cynical, I should suggest advertising (heck we have had it on milk bottles, why not on coins?)
Sounds plausible except that I suspect that oil (which forms the basis of plastics) may be set to become more scarce than the metals currently used. Am I right in thinking that paper/card coins have been used within the armed forces in times of war? Or did I dream it?
Matt, do you like sweetened green tea? You can have it.
Actually, when I think about all the weird modern coins being made exclusivelly for collectors (e.g., a guitar, don't remember an issuing country), my idea is not sounding that crazy.
Quote: Scottyhmm..maybe the talking money like what you get in Futurama. You could in theory get the queenie telling you that one should watch their money etc.
$300 in the form of a Tricky Dick fun bill...Three Hundred Big Boys...my favourite episode.
