Royal Mint coin/medal info

6 posts
Hello,
one of our customers, knowing my passion for coins, brought me this medal/token and some UNC UK coins. I don't collect tokens, and first thought was to put it for swap, but I'm starting to like it :) I would also ask for permission to list it under tokens category.
But I would need some info, like mintage, metal composition etc.On the Royal Mint website couldn't find anything...Maybe some UK colleagues have seen this before and have any info on that. By the way I see in eBay are asking 5 Pound for this?

Those in your picture do not show the Queen (or a denomination) so I assume they are the free items
in my link. There were coins issued (for the Channel Island of Alderney) the same year ...

 They are the £1 gold (KM# 84), £5 copper-nickel (KM# 85), £5 silver (KM# 86).
There were three other £5 silver - KM# 87 with red and pink flowers, KM# 88 with four views,
KM# 89 with Rally Minis. I think there was a £10 silver as well (KM# number unknown).

So there were 100,000 free tokens made, according to my first link above.

More details on the real coins of 2009 from Alderney ...

Thirdly, still no KM# number for the Proof £10 coin, but details are ...
Mintage 500 only  /  Silver 0.925  /  Weight 155.52gm  /  Diameter 65mm

Lastly, the seven (£1 x 1 / £5 x 5 / £10 x 1) Alderney coins were in the 'Mini Cooper, 50th Anniversary' series (1959-2009) and KM# 84-89, there was also a series 'British Automobiles' in 2009 for Alderney on £5 coins, and of the 18 types (KM# 193-210) there was one (KM# 207) which had the BMC Mini.

Thank you ZacUk for your valuable help! I added the medal in Tokens category, so anyone else who has it, may mark it.

By the way it has a pretty good rarity index :)

It will have if you have just added it! It will have a rarity index of 97 reflecting that only one Numista member has it catalogued (before you catalogued yours it had a rarity index of 100).
