Syria 1 Lira 1996; 2 types? [solved]

Hello,

I have a feeling that Krause lists this year twice, but it doesnt have a variety and should be combined in the 2nd type
Year 1416 (1996)

NGC doesnt list an image of 1996 for the 1st type

Also, both Krause and NGC list both types to be made of Stainless Steel
But it's "Nickel clad Steel" for the 1st type here on Numista

Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

here you have to believe, that KM knows better, after all numista is only a cut and copy (originally) from the km!

If some numista member has had the courage to say that one is nickel covered steel coin, then he might simply have been mistaken, but his change request was accepted, that's how errors easily enter in numista....

I have both, and I would say both are stainless steel! So numista is wrong! Can happen

ok, but what's more important is the year 1996 issue
do you also have it in 2 types? Im not sure what the difference is
but im guessing - if exists - one would be having the Arabic H and M beside the dates and one does not
but im waiting for confirmation that it exists without the letters

I have only have the coins in my collection, no doubles, so I cannot check further, sorry!

Searching online leads to no result of 1996 without letters (KM#121) hence this year line is a mistake by Krause.
Schon 2016 also lists only year 1994 for KM#121 and year 1996 for KM#132

The wrong year line will be deleted.

I will look at my coins and give you some feedback in a couple of hours...
