Hi,
have you ever seen such crazy art?

I have to say that it's pretty impressive, I liked the 5 yen one, but knowing how they tone badly will never make me buy it.

Back in the 80s, someone was doing this in Ohio. I still have a JFK cut out bust from a 1964 half dollar.
Why not. Turning some common coins into art pieces isn't a bad idea.

I definitely like this more than those rings people make.

I know a lot of coin collectors who react in shock and horror to such things.

Personally, I quite like them along with coin rings and those intriguing repousse things where the effigy pops out in a crazy 3d image. I've got quite a collection of re-purposed coins, ranging from jewelry to belt buckles and buttons. I have a similar collection of coins in lucite, mostly used as paperweights and I've often been tempted to start collecting those beautiful enameled Victorian coins. I must be some kind of coin hating barbarian.

Strangely, when it was done years ago and we now call it "trench art" everyone thinks it's really cool. What a difference a few decades makes eh?
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Ah yes, repousse coins - reminds me of this I got four years ago,
