I got contacted by the guy who owns the local coin and stamp shop saying that he had a box lot and I could have it if I wanted it. It was a nice lot that obviously used to be someone's collection, all on pages and contained a wide range of countries. I've picked out what I want from the lot and now I have all these countries that I don't collect, coins I already have, or coins that are outside my date range (pre-1945) the coins are mostly pre-1980 with the earliest being 1850s. Let me know if there's anything you need and we can do a deal. the countries are:

Austria
Australia
Algeria
Botswana
Brazil
Bahamas
Bhutan
Belgium
Canada
Cayman Islands
Columbia
Chile
Cyprus
Costa Rica
China

What do you have that's pre-1900?
Let's see;

I could use Botswana, Bhutan, Dominican Republic, Gambia, Haiti, Jamaica, Jersey, Liberia, Macau, New Hebrides and New Caledonia, Nepal, Rhodesia, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.

If don't like anything on my swap list I have some other coins in reserve that you might find of interest.
Nice initiative, unfortunately I guess I already own at least one coin from each of these.

new hebrides for sure
Cross-checking with my listed collection, those are the countries I don't have:

Fiji
New Hebrides
Qatar
Somalia

I think I actually have a coin from Somalia, just hadn't seen it in ages (for obvious reasons, my listed collection only includes coins I've seen and entered in the last six months). I definitely don't have anything from New Hebrides (and basically forgot about them because I was sure their coins are too expensive). I'm less sure about the other two.
Particularly looking for Qatar, because it's the only remaining empty place on the Asian part of my map (but I might end up buying one of their coins earlier anyway).

If the French Polynesia and Sudan coins are not the one type of each I have (aluminium 5 francs post-1975, and the 5 qirsh with camel left, respectively), I would be interested in those too. Also, if you have a Bahamas 15 cents, that would be very nice too (it would, I believe, complete my set of post-1950 15 cent coins - still looking for the Tannu Tuva and Venice versions, but they're way too expensive for me), but it doesn't seem very likely.

I'm also looking for some old Brazil coins, so you might as well give a listing for that too (especially if you have something pre-1967... I suspect you took everything pre-1942 to yourself).
Someone already asked for pre-1900 coins - of course that would be interesting too (but they're probably mostly common types I already have).

Also, I'm assuming "Columbia" is just a misspelled Colombia, and not something rarer.

EDIT: If "deal" means I'm supposed to send you some coins too, I'm probably out. The postage price would almost certainly mean that, unless you send me like two dozen coins, it would likely be cheaper for me to buy those coins myself (yes, even the New Hebrides).
[To clarify, it's no problem for me to find some nice coins to send you - though they're unlikely to be pre-1945, since that's illegal to send from my country; I do not, however, want to pay $20 or more for postage, and I doubt I could find it any cheaper.]

Same here if you have multiples!!
Quote: "Steve27"What do you have that's pre-1900?
some of the France, Belgium, Switzerland, UK coins
I think probably the easiest is to put up scans of the pages. I'll be getting back to you in order. New Hebrides is looking pretty popular and I think there were 3-4 coins from there, but luckily I am getting a lot of pacific coins later this week that has a few more New Hebrides coins. Eurovisier get's first pick of them because I promised him one a few weeks ago ;)

Yes, my bad on the Colombia sorry.

I'm not too worried about swapping, I only paid NZ$40 for the lot and I'll likely get half of that back on the silver, even selling it for spot, as well as that I also got a handful of coins with a catalogue value of $2-$10 that I needed (including a nice Uncirculated 1904 10c coin from Belguim) and the prize from the lot is this one , a 1903 2 ½ cent coin from North Borneo

The New Hebrides coins have a really low book value, why do you say they're expensive? They come up for sale quite often over here in bulk lots. With most of the stuff I'll probably be happy if you just pay the postage charge or maybe a promise to help out other collectors if you get the chance, but I'm not really bothered. If you do have something I need then I'm happy to swap, but I'm happy just to take one of two coins that I need in exchange for whatever you need from the list. I'll get the scans up in about 8 hours when I finish work (only 9:00am over here at the moment)

My reply just disappeared for some reason (and I hadn't even finished it - or even closed the tab).

TL/DR:
- New Hebrides coins cost $2-3 or more, if I can find them, which is a lot more expensive than what I've been typically buying until very recently; and for the last few months (now that I'm actually trying to buy some $2+ coins too) I hadn't seen any at all; no idea what the book values are, but of course you're a good deal closer to the New Hebrides than I am
- anyway, I hardly ever buy bulk lots, because 1) I don't know how to look for them so that I don't get a huge amount of unsellable cheap junk, and 2) until recently I couldn't afford to throw around that kind of money, anyway
- it's illegal to send 50+ year old coins (even if foreign) out of Russia without a permit from the Ministry of Culture, because they're considered cultural heritage or somesuch (note that this includes everything pre-1945); it might or might not (it's confusing) be illegal to send 100+ year old coins at all, even with a permit; of course in practice nobody cares, but one can always get unlucky; I've never tried either, preferring to stay with more recent coinage for my Secret Santa gifts; those permits are said to be quite easy to get, as much as bureaucratic documents can be, but, again, I've never tried
- last time I checked, postage to the USA was US$20 or so, but that was before the 2014 sanctions, and the current figure is likely to be more rubles but less dollars; in any case, New Zealand is probably even more expensive, and NZ$ is much less than US$, so I might end up paying more for postage just from my end than you paid for the entire lot
- if postage turns out to be less than about NZ$25, and you're actually interested in some coins that are less than 50 years old and not gold, large silver or very rare, I'd be happy to send them
- if my parents agree, I might end up sending some pre-1945 coins too, even illegally; the easiest way will probably be to give the coins to someone going to another country, such as Germany or Israel, and ask them to send from there (that can also save a bit on the postage)
- either way, if I'm also paying for your postage, the total amount would probably be more than I can afford; certainly more than what you paid for the lot
- those postage and illegality problems are why I hadn't put any of my coins for swap yet; I do, in fact, have some doubles I'd be happy to get rid of, but I've never heard of swapping by personal meeting, and I'm not sure I can work with anything else outside a Secret Santa situation... which yours is fortunately close enough to
- and yes, that TL/DR is probably longer than my original post was
Can you just tell me the dates, denominations, and die letters of the isle of man coins?
