I would like to address my thanks to ken6528 for his helpful and impressive cropping work in Greece (ancient). What you did is amazing!
I'm curious how you guys are doing all of the cropping so efficiently and maintaining the proper format. Is there a software you are using or something like that? I'd like to crop my own photos so that way if I ever use them you guys wont have to do all of the cropping again.

Thank you. It takes hours, but keeps me off ebay. I have saved a lot of money by cropping the coins.

I use 3 different programs to crop the coins.

#1 Photoscape a free downloadable program. VERY easy to crop round coins. Just click the crop tab at the bottom. Chose crop round image. Circle the coin and you are done.

For odd shaped coins use Photoscape first to crop out most of the background. Use either round or square cropping tool whichever works best for the coin. Save the coin now.
I then use Corel Paintshop Pro (got it free with rebates at Christmas). Adobe Photoshop should also work. You don’t need the newest versions for what needs to be done.
If the background is all one color try to use the fill command. Keep changing the tolerance and the undo till it gets close to being done.
Now comes the hard part. Use the paint brush with white color and set the size of the brush. Do not go too small. You now have to trace the outline of the coin where the background didn’t change.

If the coin needs rotating I then use Photoshop elements. It has a free rotate tool so you can turn the coin a few degrees at a time. You then have to save the coin as a jpeg.

Round coins are easy. At first I couldn’t even do the round coins. With practice they are not that hard to do.

I take Canada (1st page)  : 8~ 8~ Done B. just cropping

BOINC
Yes, I guess we should make such Numisdoc. But for the next three months I have barely time to respond on the forums. All my other work I had to postpone.

I see you already took Canada as a whole. Thanks.

I asked referee about San Marino and I will add Israel into the thread in the coming hours.

Gibraltar and Isle of Man are being slowly done by other members.

When the whole catalog is done maybe one master cropper could take the job of visiting the 'Latest coins' section once a month to look for uncropped coins and taking care of them so we don't have to look through the whole catalog every ime?

these coins are done, waiting for referee approval.

Another problem is if the coin is already in the catalog and a new picture is added to it. There is no easy way of finding those coins unless you check every country again.
Maybe have a forum page that referees can add the coin page when they approve an uncropped picture.

Yes, this is right.
This is not what we are interested in: the referent is warned when you submit it.
But what you take, to avoid doing the same work.
It takes time to download, process, retransmit, eat. . .
During this time others may take and do the same on the same pieces before you indicate 'done' ... and be bolded by Jarcek if available.
Excuse me, I do not speak English. (google translate)

There are currently 124 pages of Exonumia, my screen shows me 20 per page, do you have the same?

I suggest that volunteers take page by page by publishing successive editions in a single personal post and bold the last page they take.

Jarcek, please do not close this thread. There are new coins of irregular shape. It is possible, that we'll find something in the catalog that needs to be done. We can also add here.

Links to change requests can be filed HERE in column 2.
The list is updated by each participant with the anonymous indication 'Take' or their nickname to avoid duplicate work on the same room.
The 'Done' indication then reduces the list.
