India British - difference between KM# 537a and KM# 539

Hello,

I am struggling to make out the difference between the 2 above mentioned coins:

I have 3 times 1 Anna from 1945 - but I don't know which KM# I have...
What also makes me suspicious is that the mintage for 1945 is the same for both KM#s.
Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks!
Christoph

It might help you determine which coin type you have

Thanks a lot. Indeed, it seems the other side is decisive - looking at the "1" I really see a difference...
Thanks Parimal, I'll add the images showing the difference sometime today..
But I do wonder what justifies the different KM number. There are Polish coins with larger differences and still have the same KM.

The different KM is in the end decision of KMCatalog’s editors - there are some guidelines but it's not fully consistent…

However which Polish coins do you mean?

For example this 1 Zloty Y#49.1 and Y#49.2. I am a type collector and Numista sees it as a single type which is a small nuisance. The Indian coin in this example I regard as a single type so I only have one.

And what do you think about 49.3? ;-)

As I wrote before KM# assigning is inconsistent. In some cases it’s caused by historical reasons (eg. incorrect or inaccurate reporting ) that coins does not get a separate number even if a difference is big…
Anyway I'm treating each 49.x as separate type.
I believe the difference is in the metal composition as well. 537a and 537 can also be compared via coin weight and specific gravity. And yes the copper-nickel is more grayish or whiter, whereas the Nickel - brass is more yellowish, or brassy.
