They list the weight as 22.4, and the diameter as 38.

half crowns are listed at 14.1g, 32mm and crowns at 27g, 39mm.

What do you guys think? Contemporary counterfeit? Modern fake? Weird variation?
Blatant copies for souvenir purposes maybe?

Crowns are 38mm and 28.35g around the early 1800's. A 1836 crown doesn't exist.

Fakes, they don't even look silver in the pictures, they look more cu-ni.

Oh yea, they are definitely fakes. I'm just trying to work out where/when they are from! (and shall use this item to cheaply test out some of my new testing toys)

They weigh too much to be cu-ni though. You expect fakes to weigh less not more - A similar example is the 1877CC trade dollar of which the best counterfeits are 17-18g and have around 20.5 silver content. (The real one is 38mm, 27.22g if i recall correctly.)

It's certainly not a crude counterfeit based on the detailing, and it'd be a weird coin/date to counterfeit anyway as it's not THAT valuable. So on the one hand you have the terrible weight/size variation, and on the other a pretty good amount of detailing and not much motivation to forge it (not that badly anyway)

No they've listed them wrong. it looks like they're supposed to be crowns

They're about the right width for crowns, but underweight by about 5 grams, which is about right for cu-ni which is about 15% lighter than silver.
