I'm sorry for stealing your thunder Neil, but I just purchased a LOT of new coins and I want to post some on the forum.

So you know the drill: post any new coins here!

Here is one of my latest purchases (not an Austrian Netherlands kronenthaler but a similar Italian States coin):

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces62225.html

No problem, I've got a few on the way but the sellers have been a bit tardy sending them. As long as someone starts it I don't mind too much. My Maundy twopence and the William IV shilling should be showing up today or tomorrow because the guy said he would be posting on Monday. I'lll get them on as soon as they arrive. I've also got a nice French indo-china coin coming (not a silver one though)
Very nice Milan coin by the way, how much did that one set you back?
Thanks, it cost me a hundred bucks - one of my most expensive coin purchases yet!

None of the other coins I'll be posting here will seem quite as cool now! ;)
Not a bad price, it's less than then cat value anyway.
True, that's why I jumped at the opportunity (and I'm going through a German States/ Italian States/ Swiss Cantons phase right now!).
Finally got a coin from Sarawak 1892 1 Cent today! 1 country closer to 300! (It's taking a while!(8)
I have a few nice additions so far this month ...

'1792, Birmingham, farthing token'

'1794, Bath halfpenny token'

'1794, halfpenny token, the land we live in'

'1791 (MDCCXCI) ½d token, payable at house of Gilbert'

'1793, halfpenny token, R Campin, Haberdashery, Norwich'

'1667 Norwich Farthing Token'

'Undated Norwich Twopence Token - 1811 to 1815 - Robert Blake'

'1813 Penny token Stockton On Tees'

'Botswana - 2 Pula 2013 Bi-metallic'

'May Angels bless this home, And all who enter here. Token - 27mm'

Not a coin I know, but cute anyway

'Irish Bank Token Ten Pence Irish 1805 Georgivs 111 Dei Gratia'

'Irish Token J Hilles Dublin 1/2d 1813 Payable in Bank of Ireland notes'

I got that last token as I had the penny earlier with the reverse of this coin overstamped.

I'll pick my favourite tokens tomorrow I won't add all of them as I've added around 20 this month so far but by far and away this will be my best purchase of the month.
its a different variety to my other one so I will keep both. This laureate points to the centre of E and has not stop after REX.
its also a CAROLOUS 1808 undertype so a final year of issue for old Charlie too !
EDIT: Identified the under type as Peru, the date is written the same and the tip of the right pillar points to the middle of I in HISPAN.
As not a purchase but dptashny's gift I didn't publish it before, but I was able to register 2 new coins over 5 received:
  • France 1 franc 1937 (new minting year)
  • Germany 50 pfennig 1924 (new type)

On the way, coming soon:
  • Nurenberg change tokens (after ID in French forum) and various tokens still under ID
  • Lorraine 1/2 Sol Charles III, 1/2 Groschen Henri I and 15 deniers Leopold I
  • Equatorial African states 50 francs 1963, France 2 centimes naked head 1853K and 1856K, 2 centimes laureate head 1862A, 10 centimes Ceres 1897A and Monaco 10 francs Prince Pierre Foundation 1989
  • probable Brittany denier Arthur II, Nantes mint

Wow, what a day! Not only were the UK coins I bought waiting for me when I got home, but also a big letter of lovely big silver Romanian coins from another member I've been trading with also turned up. Here they are, read them and weep!

1835 William IV shilling

1870 Victoria Maundy twopence

Romania 1912 2 Lei

Romania 1941 250 Lei

Romania 1941 500 Lei

Romania 1944 500 Lei

Romania 1946 10,000 Lei

Romania 1946 25,000 Lei
Malaya, 1 Cent 1945

Some more coins purchased recently:

And a couple of the more interesting purchases from the New York International Numismatic Convention:

Enjoy! B)
What denomination is the Hyderabad coin? I really like them, I've got the 1/8 and 1/4 rupee and I'm looking to get some of the bigger denominations. I saw the Rupee for sale for a decent price recently, but it was a bit too worn for my liking.
Mine is a rupee but it isn't for sale, sorry. I also bought a half rupee at the same coin show (also not for sale).

PS: Nice Romanian coins Neil, I only have one of them!

I think there will be some duplicates of tokens I already have in that last lot.
Not sure until they arrive. :)

How much did you pay for the '18 Copper Halfpenny Tokens and Coins' lot?
Here are my purchases for this month.

Zirids of Grenada fractional dinar struck under Badis b. Habbus

Roman solidus of Valentinian I, Struck at Antioch, 10th officina

Half Pagoda of Hari Hara II of the Vijayanagar Empire

Quote: "dptashny"How much did you pay for the '18 Copper Halfpenny Tokens and Coins' lot?
The highest bid (just before end of auction) was over £20 and I put in a £50 maximum bid, so the highest bidder must have put a hidden bid of £30, as when I won it said I got it for just over £30 i.e. £1 more than the highest; so did not spend the £50 after all (but would not have minded, for so many tokens).
So about £1.50 per token, though it will be higher I guess when I see how many duplicates (those I already have, or in less good condition) there are - can't tell from pictures, especially as some designs were used on more than one token. I think there at least six I do not have (so maybe then it works out as £5 each effectively, with 12 free duplicates is the way I see it). :)

If you don't mind me asking Quant, what sort of price range are these coins that you buy?
Quote: "neilithic"If you don't mind me asking Quant, what sort of price range are these coins that you buy?
The coins that I normally buy are within the $1 to $500 range. Rarely does it reach $500, but these coins that I posted here are all from $100 up to $300 range. I don't buy anything beyond $500 as I think it is too much at that price level...
Thanks, they're certainly beautiful coins. I'm starting to move up the price scale and bought my first few $100+ coins. Maybe in 10 year time when my kids have moved out of home I can start buying the $500+ ones.

I picked this little baby up for NZ$20, it's at least VF and possibly XF. I'll have to go round to my parent's house to use their scanner so you can make out the fine details, because as you can see, my scanner is useless. Anyway, it's catalogue value in VF is US$70 (NZ$108) and in XF it's US$100 (NZ$167)!!

I also got three upgrades

and I got this one from a bulk lot from another New Zealand member. Unfortunately it's been drilled and plugged but still a bit of a rarity, only 300,000 minted. Catalogue value even in F is around $30.
Coon star!
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
This is the only coin I've added this month and it's an upgrade :)
I've added a lot of Canadian tokens but have been extremely busy do haven't had a chance to add them all or even photograph them.

My latest aquisition, a half Taler from Basel.
I still have to add it to the catalogue.

and a Taler from Brandenburg-Ansbach also still have to add it to the catalogue.
The reverse is damaged but it was much more affordable that way considering its condition.
Also strangely both coins are overdate varieties.

I try to not pay more than £5 for each; sometimes less, and sometimes more.
That lot of 18 which I won recently cost just over £30 so less than £2 each, which is about average. Condition as always is everything, and the better the example the more they sell for; examples of that are the most I paid so far was for the last two in this post from October ...
