I've a few coins which purchases require to be finalized... So not done yet.

Why didn't you call it "Januany 2016 additions of your collection"? :P

I'm assuming it's because he wants to know just the first coin you buy this year.
First one of this year ...

'18th Century Half Penny Trade Token Wholesale Crooms Wool & Linen Halfpenny'

I could not find it on here, so will add it soon. Copper, 28mm diameter.
Obverse: PAYABLE AT W · CROOMS HIGH STREET DUNDEE
DEI DONUM PRUDENTIA ET CANDORE
Reverse: SELLS WHOLESALE WOOLEN & LINEN DRAPERY GOODS WATCHES &c &c CHEAP
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
The "&c &c" is that an old cool way to write "et cetera"?
I mean, since the &-sign comes from the latin word 'et' (and), so it seems plausible to me anyway.
It looks like that is the case.
http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/%26c.
"ET CETERA. A Latin phrase, which has been adopted into English; it signifies. "and the others, and so of the rest," it is commonly abbreviated, &c."
Yes, et cetera is then et changed to & sign, and with cetera being shortened to c letter, so is &c :)

Oh! I've never seen that abbrevation before, but I like it! :D
Finally picked-up a South Africa 1923 Farthing to finish my circulation Farthings...Still need a few of the proofs.

The ampersand is a cool symbol. &.
I always use an ampersand when writing names &c

As Neil said, the first coin of 2016 added to your collection. If you bought more than 1 coin on the same day then it would be the first one you paid for unless they were both purchased in one go. :P

That was not the purpose of my reply, but no matter.

If the coins are still unID and may arrive in the same time as easy-to-ID coins, I think the easy-to-ID may win that way, right?

whichever was looked at first. if it isn't yet identified then it can still be put up and state there is no ID on it yet.

but as this isn't a super serious thread, you can interpret it any way you wish.

I bought several more when I got the kew gardens, but it was the first coin I visually looked at, hence stating it is my first purchase of 2016.

I just purchased an uncirculated St. Pierre and Miquelon 1 Franc (KM1) for $10 from my local coin shop.
Pretty happy with my purchase, even if I overpaid.
Sorry, no picture at the moment.
I just picked up my first coins of 2016. I can't pick a first one because I bought them both at the same time. I got an 1835 William IV shilling and an 1870 Maundy twopence. I'll post pictures in a couple of days when they arrive and start up the "January additions to your collection" thread

Picked up a lovely 1848 Austrian Empire 20 Kreutzer for £10
He guys, this is what I received today.
please have a good look and guess what I paid for it ...

Considering the 1920's Danzig Guldens, I'm guessing you got them for a fraction of their worth?

I need the ½, 1 and 5 gulden 1923.. (;0

I'm guessing 780 USD.. :P

The left coin is catalogued with Poland but was minted in Berlin for the reduced Kingdom of Prussia after France annexed its western territories. It should be listed with other Prussian coins of German States.

I like the Straits Cent as well.

Hhmm, no I don't think so ....
A 1942 10 Mils coin from Palestine.

I'm guessing a couple of hundred dollars of the Danzig coins. Am I close?
I would be too afraid to waste a small fortune on fakes. I own a nice 1932 1/2 Gulden and those are around 30 EUR I believe. The 5 Gulden pieces are the pricy ones.

To me they appear real but be aware a lot of fakes exist.

My first coin was, as a gift from a polish swapper, a ... canteen token,, that was located at 20 km from you home :D

Well, I pulled $12.25 of mostly pre-1950 coins out of the world coins bulk bins at my local coin shop (and the dealer nicely rounded down to an even $10). And then, to avoid becoming "that guy who just sits for a half hour rummaging through the junk bins for a few bucks of weird foreign coins", I bought a nice and shiny uncirculated 1963 Franklin half dollar for my type set of classic US coins.

And I mailed out my first swap packages, too!

They look like possible fakes actually...

I paid total less the 12€ for them, but ....

indeed replicas! (clear already, during buying)
I'm surpricsed about the qualities, and doubt if I should noticed myself (in case I bought for full price) ....

I've used this coins in the past, to get a cup of coffee :-)
i don't think they are used anymore, but if you like, I still can give you a cup of coffee for it, here in Amersfoort ;-)
I was thinking it was a canteen token for the Douwe Egberts factory next to Utrecht but ... it doesn't seem so :D

Who cares about the orientation when you have a coin like that
My first 2016 coin is Tunisia Kharoub AH1177, very nice condition. $24. Scarce ruler - Mustafa III.

Egypt, 1, 2 and 5 millièmes/mallimat, 1916-1917

I wish posts had the "Like" button feature as I love so many coins shown but cant respond to them all. Some lovely coins so far......Keep 'em coming!

Alright here's my first purchase, as per normal my scanner doesn't do the coin justice, but they're a beautifully toned William IV shilling and a Victorian Maundy twopence

I'm so happy with them
My 1st purchase of 2016
2002 Gold Sovereign, Golden Jubilee issue.
Still in its original plastic seal but without the issue packaging.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.
My first purchase is UK 1989 £2 Claim of Right.

I'm such a happy chappie! :)

He said it was gem proof, but I'm guessing just (B)UNC? As it appears to have come straight from a set
Any comments?
I'm not too bothered either way considering the price I got it for, but what would your suggestion be on grade.
Thanks.

As I'm excluding tokens which arrived simultaneously, I'll consider the winners are... Lorraine coins.

Not the rarest coin, but it is a nice 1 year issue, and I just really like the obverse design.
