I have two coins from Burma which predate the oldest coins listed in the Burmese database. They are bronze coins with 2 fish on them (there is also a coin with a lead rabbit of the same era). Does anyone know where else I might look?

Lead rabbit ? Haven't heard about that. Pics ?
I've seen deer head coins from French Indochina from that period I think. But no rabbits.

The other "lead" coin is most likely a lead/tin token from Tenasserim and Pegu. I posted a few from my collection on Zeno at
http://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=1930 . The standard book on these "coins" is Michael Robinson's
The Coins and Banknotes of Burma . I don't have the "rabbit" type coin, but I suspect it is this one. For more information, you can check out Arthur P. Phayre's
Coins of Arakan, of Pegu and of Burma which can be freely downloaded from

That is the nicest example of the Rabbit coin I have seen -- and I looked all over Burma for 4 months!

. The other coins that I posted on Zeno are my coins and are the plate specimen coins from Robinson's book.

Here is a link to the lead rabbit coins I was refering to. They are mentioned in Than Htun's book as being contemporary to the silver Peacock coins, circa 1880.

I also have some of the Hamsa and other mythical beast coins shown earlier in this thread. I just finally got into the bag I brought home from Yangon. I will try to get these added to the database.
Thanks
Will
