I feel that I may be getting somewhere near identifying this one but would appreciate the opinion of someone more acquainted with the coinage.

The major variations of Sikh paisa of this period is the mint mark of Katar, Flag, trident etc (apart from leaf). We have a few listed in numista.

"The Coins of the Sikhs" by Hans Herrli is one of the best book for this type. I am going to get a copy soon :).
