I found this forum after i was trying to identify what coin do i have. Someone told me that i have Ottoman era coin with texts "Constantinople".
After scrolling through 20 pages about Turkish (Ottoman era) coins at this website i couldn't find exactly the same one.
It was belonging to my great great grandmother, it has hole on itself as it was worn as earring or something else and it's made out of the gold.
Here are pictures of both sides.
How old is this "coin"? Where was it used? How much is it worth?
I don't know if it's fake, but i know it's old since my great great grandmother got it when she was a kid than my mother got it from her around 30-35 years ago (roughly).
I'm from Bosnia and Bosnia was once part of Ottoman empire if that means anything in this...
It is similar to that but this one has differrent edges...
One guy said it could be from 13-14 century, Arca..

The edges also makes me doubt it's real.
And the guy who told you it's from 13-14 century probably never saw an ottoman coin in his life. The coin says the ascension year 1223 (AH) so, if not fake, it was made in the reign of Mahmud II (1808-1839). The regnal year on your coin is kinda worn so i'm not sure what it is - so i can't give you the exact year.
It is possible that your coin actually IS old and is a contemporary belly dancer money. Which means it might even have some precious metal in it - but nowhere near the specifications of the real coin.
Well I didn't thought you were kidding, I saw many useful posts here.
Now I know what I have. Thought this belly thing is not worth much it at least has some history behind it and I like history :D
I have two other coins one from First world war era and another Arabic "coin" like thing, I'm going to post them tomorrow in a new topic, I hope I can get some infos about them too.
