Mintage of the 1990 Hong Kong 50c coin [solved]

Is the mintage of this coin really only 27,000?
Hello BMPJ, I'm not sure of the answer myself but when asking a question about a coin that is listed in the Numista catalogue, it is often quite helpful to post a link within your comment. Is it this one?

Correct. That is the coin. Thanks for educating me.
It does seem odd that the 1977-80 mintages were in the millions but I've checked my 38th Edition (2010) version of Krause and it does state 27,000 - perhaps someone else could check their modern SCWC and confirm if this is still the current data.

Just surmising here but the lease was due to end in the late 90's and they had to provide coinage for the the useless worn stuff. I assume at this point they were probably just replacing the melted coins.
The Krause also listed the Macau 20 Pesetas at 1000 and Numista clarified that it was actually 1000,000.

So I lost a little trust in Krause's numbers being correct. (Although in general they are great coin calalogues),
My friend and fellow "Coin Detective", Essor Prof, has confirmed that the current 42nd Edition of Krause (2015) also states the mintage is 27,000 - hope this helps :

It's 27 million. Photo for proof:

I've pulled quite a few out of circulation here in Hong Kong - if there were only 27,000 to go around I certainly wouldn't have gotten this many!
