Hey,

I collect stamps as well as coins (as im sure many of us do), and im wondering of there is a Numista like site for stamp collecting? Its a massive pain to store my collection in spreadsheets on the computer because i cant share them, and i don't want to pay for a website because its too much work to keep it updated.

Currently i have my collection on stampworld, but if anyone else here uses it you will know its very user unfriendly and lots of features are broken. Although you can 'sell' stamps, there's no way to trade stamps (aside from directly messaging someone), you cant note if you have doubles of a stamp ect... Its got a whole load of problems that i cant handle.

I know stamp collecting is bigger than coin collecting, so im guessing there is a better alternative out there which i cant find... And if there isn't, why has nobody created one yet?

that is not true in any way, maybe 40 years ago but it's 2015 and stamp collecting has lost it's popularity and numismatics has only increased.
Stamp collecting is a dying hobby, colnect is the only semi user frendly site for stamps that I know.
You have no idea how many times this has been discussed, but it never happened.

So there is nothing else? Stampworld is literally as good as it gets?

That really sucks, though surely there is heaps of people that want a similar thing?

I guess I took numista for granted, I never realised how good it really was!
Numista is for coins, not stamps. If you wanted stamps, not coins, go to colnect.

Stamp collecting is dying out at this point. As mentioned before this question has been brought up time and time again, but I doubt it will happen.

What on earth is going on with all the resurrecting of threads that have been dead for years?

stampworld.com - 750,000+ stamps
colnect.com - 715,000+ stamps
stampedia.net - <120,000 stamps - hmm...
HoH
Thanks for this, was just looking for the very same thing. I have a large collection of stamps from two countries and I'd love to catalog them in a simple way. Not even really interested in price, etc. though I'm always curious as to how rare things may be.

The Stanley-Gibbons site was brilliant and was free, but now they charge you a membership fee to join it.
What? Me Worry

I've always been in favour of having a stamp part in Numista but when I read 1.200.000 stamps…

When we only have 300.000 item in our catalogue, I see it way too heavy for our database.

Always look on the bright side of life!

The only way would be to limit the database to the same period as the Scott 1840-1940 Catalogue.

This certainly represents less than 10% of all the stamps ever issued ─ probably even less than 5%.

But I'm not saying one way or another whether Numista should get into this.

Personally I collect stamps for the reason given in my signature 👇 👇 👇
