UK 1966 one penny, gold plated...

Hi all,

I was hoping for some help identifying a coin. It's a 1966 UK one penny coin like these:

However, this one appears to be gold plated. When I got it, there was a note saying it was to do with the 1979 international year of the child, but I don't seem to be able to find any reference to it.

There's nothing in the Krause book either.

Anyone ever come across one of these?

Thanks,
Chris
I have come across many gold plated pennies with obscure reasons behind them, but there is nothing to justify why. B.

Thanks Fluke - I guessed that might be the answer...
