Quote: kolikko99My last spanish pre-euro collection is now completeand I got those two for bargain price!
They are beautiful, do you mind sharing what you paid?
I agree, the spanish and the French pre-euros are the most beautiful ones, tomorrow there's a big numismatic market here in barcelona so I might find some for bargain price and swap or sell the ones that I don't need.
1000 pesetas 10 euros and 10000 pesetas 85 euros, they are both gem unc.
About the pre-euro notes: but won't they expire in 2020? Wouldn't the price of those notes drop very sharply after their convertibility ends, making it better to wait five years to buy them? Or have the prices of other already-demonetized pre-euro notes stayed fairly constant (French francs, Italian lire, etc.)?

In France, where I am on holiday, there was a brocante (car boot). I was looking for coins...found some here and there. Bought some old francs for 2€. A agriculture medal for €4. Passed on expensively overpriced individual worthless coins.
Found some other coins for 20 cents each. Inquired how much they were in total. €25! It wasn't worth it.
I moved on and then saw the lot above. Looking through the collection, I picked out and asked, "How much is this one?" ---> Now other sellers had said,"It depends on the coin."
This guy didn't even look at the 1936 Half Crown in my hand and said,"50 cents". This continued with a silver florin etc. So I then enquired about the whole lot. 40€. Brilliant. The red and white box came in at 8€ after I got it down from 15€.
Some nice coins in the lot but I would say it was worth it!

After getting a chance to look over these, I think I did all right, I over paid for silver value due to the fact that a bunch are .50-.760 not .80-.90
But this was in there and its UNC, its a coin about greenland https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces18144.html
I also love the two Polish coins, Lady Jadwiga and also one of the most manly coins ever
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!
My 5 Soldi (Numista pictures) has similar scratches ... I still hope that they are mint made adjustments, but those were usually made before the minting
Got some more coins today from the same guy who yesterday said he was just going to melt all these down, so I bought all that I could yesterday and today went back with more cash to get the rest... and I guess he got the bright idea that these might be worth more as actual coins so he pulled all the good stuff that I didn't get yesterday. He did let me get these, the two Canada coins at the top I got for $10, I just couldn't let them go to the melter, and the rest for $33, that dang Cuban 5 cent snuck in there.
My only regret is that I didn't have more cash yesterday to buy everything he had.
Sadly the 1816 British coin is holed, its in really good condition, and Bam that Swiss coin is 1958

Obtained these items yesterday from a small market near where I live.
Both are from Gibraltar. Date 2005. 200th Anniversary of Battle of Trafalgar. They are not on the Numista website, so I am going to add them to it now.
Also bought this little beauty for my other collection.
30mm Cannon shell. 200mm tall. It is a practice shell. Will sit nicely with my other shells (not sea shells)
EDIT: one more country today with 1926 Greenland krone

Once again a nice bargain for a beautiful coin and I didn't even have to pay postage because the seller lives very close to me so I went there to pick it up.
Quote: "Mark240590"I've just ordered this.. It's a piece from the period of Japanese occupation in WWII.
Nice Great Japan (大日本) counter stamp ... I have quite a lot of occupation banknotes but I have not seen coins that often other than from the chinese puppet states.
Thanks, I've read that they were stamped "for collection" so to avoid the Japanese taking them immediately, however I want to cross reference this although, it's no easy fete !

My Yugoslavian notes came in today, I thought they were neat because these banknotes are the last banknotes ever issued under the name of Yugoslavia. After 2003, these were re-issued but with the name changed to Serbia instead of Yugoslavia and some small differences. Among them were some nice surprices though, one 200 Dinara note is actually a replacement note (it has a 'ZA' prefix) and the seller gave me some bonus coins, which he apparently discovered while cleaning up his attic. And the best part about the coins is that they are worth more in exchange value than the amount of money I paid in total for the banknotes!

True, I still need that one. The seller claimed that these banknotes were the money he had left over from his holiday, so I guess it's just a coincidence that that the 100 Dinara wasn't among the other notes. Luckaly these notes aren't hard to find, so I might get one at a coin fair or something.

The Northumbrian coinage is very interesting, but very expensive! These stycas are affordable, but I would love to get some of the others, but the cost is very prohibitive. These two complement my others:
Early Anglo-Saxon, Kingdom of Northumbria: Æthelred II, 2nd reign (ca. 844-850) AE Styca (North-190; SCBC-868)
Obv: +EDILRED REX. Small cross within circle

I may publish in a few days the last coins I'd to identify (and authentify) from Lorraine and Gaul I received a few days ago. During that time, I may receive new coins but they'll be published on the September topic.
