Banknote Serial Numbers

I know it's more notaphily than numismatic, but thought I'd ask anyway.

I read an article a while ago about serial numbers on banknotes, radar, repeaters, doubles, etc., but have only just started to look at the notes in my pocket.

I have a UK £10 note with the serial number HH22 227878.

So, is this worth just £10 in beer, or could someone on an unnamed auction site be interested?

It's not UNC, has a double fold through the middle, and not as crisp as it should be.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
Interesting serial number would be something like HH22 222222 or HH78 787878 or HH00 000011, so nothing special about your serial number.

Serial number adds value only if it's a low number or if it's repetitive.
:(
I thought so, even though it's got elements of repeats, it's just a little too contrived.
I'll probably spend it on beer then!

Beer is overrated, you should be enjoying all the great extra dry ciders that you have over there, all we have are sugar filled "sodas".

Or you could spend it on coins
I have only this repeat but on a quite small serial

and regarding spending it on beer/other ethyl alcoholic beverages or coins
Well, I'm sat in the pub right now, and I'm checking the change I'm getting. So yes, best of both worlds!
  :)
Although I've not spent that tenner just yet.

There was a thread a while ago in the Free Discussion forum where I posted a pic of a USSR 1 Ruble that I found in circulation many years ago.... uh, found it:

I don't think it's worth very much in this condition, though, but it's a fun little note.  :)
HoH
man .. only 202 notes to early  :(
In US dollars the closes i have come is 6 out of the8 numbers
It is, what it is, or is it.
And bizarrely enough, I got quite a nice fake £1 coin last night, too.

(with a genuine one for comparison)

That 6 is really cool, I'm sure that there would be many bidders for it in ebay.
Here is my lowest number and it is a star note too

 it is only 3948

I remembered tonight where I put my special banknote -
which as you can see has NO serial numbers!

 :8D    :o  8)

The Uncirculated note on the left (I have the following serial number ending 358 as well) I got as a comparison. Also as a reminder of the last UK £1 note before the £1 coin was introduced.

P.S. Curiously the Bank of England decided only one ten-digit serial number was needed, so there is no other on the front (or back) of that note design.
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
ZacUK that is odd. I know on US notes if the number is not there they are not legal tender.

It would be super cool to do that with notes that have been in circulation instead of them being pulled out before they hit the banks.

Technically your 1st pic is a low number note. If it were a unc and combine with maybe 50 over years, it would have worth alot. But Don think it will worth alot. Maybe 10 or 20 bucks plus face value. I am not sure myself.

I also own a low number note that has been circulated to my hand. But its like in fine condition. So same only afew dollars more.

Be kind to people. Sharing is Caring. Collect what you like and not by the Crowd.
To seek for perfection, it is too painful and there is a very high price to pay. To seek for something comfortable is more easy. To seek for nothing is even more easy.
