Thought I'd just show this clip from a Depression-era film

The non-existent 1933 Barber coins being held by the girls, and the giant 1933 Morgan and Peace Dollars seem interesting to note B.
Anyone else know of similar features of coins in other shows?

I know the 1913 Liberty V nickel Olsen specimen appeared on a episode of Hawaii Five-O. Titled "The $100,000 nickel".
I remember the Victor Hugo's book adaptations of Les Misérables with a scene depicting a 5 francs. And there was an older US series depicting a murder done because of a very rare coin, but I don't remember exactly which one... Maybe Columbo...

And another fact without a banknote instead of a coin: on March 11th, 1984, French singer Serge Gainsbourg burning live a Blaise Pascal F500 note (from current circulation to date) to denounce high taxation he suffered.

British shillings (?) At the start. And Spanish cobs.
3 coins in a fountain from the three penny opera. The song was popular in the US in the early 60's

ABBA " money money money" not exactly about coins, but money in general,  haha
There was a game show here in Mexico when I was really young; so I can't recall the name. And on the last game the winners of previous games (sort like what they do on The Price is right) had the chance the climb a "palo encebado" (a tall greased pole) and on the top they placed "Centenarios" (50 Pesos gold coins). It is pretty tricky climbing the pole, so every failed attempt added 1 for the next show. And I clearly remember one guy mastered the pole and climbed it ultra fast earning 35 freaking gold coins. I hope he didn't went straight to sale them, as gold always keeps its value while currency de valuates (which make gold look as more valuable over time, but it is an illusion as it is currency what is worth less).
Numista referee for the "Viceroyalty of the New Spain" (most of it).

I recall a scene in Master of the House in the 2012 Les Mis adaption, where a couple of 2 centime coins from the Second Empire (1853-1870) were visible, in  a scene set in 1823.

Funny to see that FR & EN adaptations can be prolific on depicting coinage from that period.

The "golden chalice" on the mystery show Hard to Hart. The gold plated silver dollar pretending to be a 20 gold piece on the tv show the Waltons. The chest of confederate notes on Little House on the Prairie. Pippi Longstocking bag of gold from her father...

In Deadwood's first season, set in 1876, silver dollars are featured everytime a character wants to show wealthiness. I'd imagine they are Seated Liberty dollars.

Around the World in 80 Days

It was Phileas Fogg, whose head now emerged from be-
hind his newspapers, who made this remark. He bowed to
his friends, and entered into the conversation. The affair
which formed its subject, and which was town talk, had oc-
curred three days before at the Bank of England. A package
of banknotes, to the value of fifty-five thousand pounds, had
been taken from the principal cashier’s table, that function-
ary being at the moment engaged in registering the receipt
of three shillings and sixpence.
An episode (maybe a year or 2 ago) of TV show Scorpion had a theft of rare gold coins from the British Museum (I think). The funny part was that the geniuses who recovered the coins handled them a lot barehanded and the coins were kept in a velvet pouch where they would have rubbed against each other and made scratches.

I noticed that too!
It bugged me a bit, but at least Barber Dimes could still be circulating in 1926... right?

In Titanic, when Rose pays Jack to 'draw her like one of his French girls', the dime she pays is a modern American Roosevelt dime rather than a Barber Dime.
An episode of "Bones", a TV show, featured the Bronze 1943 Lincoln Wheat Cent.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble.  It's what you know for sure, that just ain't so.  Mark Twain

They absolutely did circulate 14 years after the end of the design. They could probably still be found in circulation from time to time until the mid-1960s when US coins stopped being minted in silver and people started hoarding all the silver they found in circulation.

Maybe the criticism is that the coin was too shiny and new.

In "American gods", the character Mad Sweeney has a lucky coin we often see. I don't know if it's a real coin. It's gold with sun on it and seems to be old

In "Rome" (hbo show), Herod makes a tribute in gold to Marcus Antonius, Octavian and Lepidus. The gold is then melted in coin with an eagle on it. We clearly see the coins in an episode of the 2nd season but i can't find which episode. I don't know which coin it is exactly.

In "Vikings", Ragnar shows a coin he get in Wessex to one of his son. It's at the beginning of the second part of the 4th season. The coin clearly shows ECBERT but there is no known coins from this king.

Still in vikings, we see a coin with AELLE that Ragnar is showing to another of his sons. It's earlier in the show but i can't remember when exactly. Seems to be an imaginary coin too.
