Contemporary fake. I had one very much like it were it was a copper coin that had initially been silver plated. You couldn't really tell from the photo that he put on the auction website because the colour was all off, but when I got it in my hand I could see immediately that it was copper. I picked it up for NZ$10, but rather than ask for my money back, I turned around and listed it as a contemporary forgery and sold it for NZ$15. Those forgeries are quite popular to collectors and in some cases can actually be worth more then the original coin.
same here, I asked about one I have a few weeks ago, the accuracy was incredible comparing it to the real thing. if it had a decent plate on it I would never have known.
