These types have an inscription on the edge, so there exists a position A and a position B
If you make this distinction for other countries (f.i. for USA, Canada) you have to do it for Mexico too.
There are actually a number of Mexican coins with edge inscriptions where we could make a distinction between Position A and Position B (whether or not the inscription reads upright with the obverse face up).  I do not believe this difference is collectible and would recommend we not make this distinction for any of these coins (including the US dollar coins).  I am not aware of any reference book that identifies this difference for Mexican coins.  That said, if the consensus of Numista members is to include this Position A/Position B distinction on all coins that have these inscriptions, I am willing to reconsider.

Iam with montana2011  The position  is not set by the mint. It how ever they fall in the press line. Its all random. If they were set by the mint. and then changed. yes.  But to me Position A & B are nothing. But if someone want to collect that way. More power to them.
It is, what it is, or is it.
I only know that practically everyone who collects Belgian coins by date collect both positions but that is because the Catalog of Belgian Coins does make this distinction.

I don't say that making this distinction here in Numista is a must, but it's rather odd if you make it  for some countries (f.i.USA, Canada) and not for other countries.
And I know there are far more members who collect per type than per date/mintmark/variation but why not trying to be as complete as possible?
Although I know it would be a lot  of extra work for the Numista catolog because there are a lot of coins with an inscription, f.i. almost all the 2 euro pieces. By the way, the catalog "Euro 4" (http://www.cgb.fr/euro-4-monnaies-et-billets-en-euro-prieur-michel-fournier-olivier,LE04,a.html) makes the distinction between position A and B too.

I agree with this.  Edge orientation has no historical or numismatic value.
