13500£ in the uk
apple is becoming more and more expensive even if they're manufacturing costs are fairly low
The prices for electronics in general are getting cheaper and cheaper every month.
Agreed, Apple bank on the fact that they have thousands of loyal idiots that blindly buy anything apple pump out,  just so they can say they have the latest gadgets.  I don't own a smart phone, I don't see the point in owning one when anything you can do on the phone I can do better with a device specifically designed for that purpose.  If I want to watch videos I'll watch them on my 42" television, not a 5" screen.  If I want to take a photo I'll use my camera, not a poxy little camera on a phone, If I want to play games I'll play them on my desktop which is far faster and has a way bigger screen than a phone.

Yes, but what if you want to do these things when you are away from home and you don't have a camera?
Come on Neil, its the new Rolex, its about status, not usefulness.

I don't have an apple, but I do know that they make the best computers and the computers and tablets are worth the money.

I don't know that the phones are worth the money because android is so cheap and a phone is replaced more often than the others.  We also break phones on average way more, I have replaced my phone about once a year, and the one I have now is broken, I just live with it.

Apple has paved the way for everything in technology today, their story is rather impressive.
I wish I had bought some stock back when all my friends told me too.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

Smartphones are overpriced but still very useful (excluding apple) but this watch doesn't have any function that smartphone doesn't and it costs as much as a rolex

Actually apple computers are the worst of all ripoff products made by apple

I'm not overly fussed on taking photos. I'll take a camera on holiday or to parties and things where I know I'll want to take photos, but other than that, how often do you need to take photos?  There was a study recently where two groups of people were put through a museum, one were allowed to take photos with their phones, the other weren't.  The group who weren't taking photos recalled so much more of what they saw than the group that just wandered round taking photos, because they were actually taking in what they were seeing rather than relying on photos to create memory.

Let me ask you, how often do you sit around looking at all the photos you've taken over the last few years with your phone?  I know my style of thinking is unfathomable to the modern generation that has grown up with phones being everywhere.  I know when businesses ask for my cell number and I say I don't have one they look at me like I'm a little green man who's just turned up in a spaceship.  But I've lasted this long without a phone and I don't see any reason for getting one now.
in americas and europe it's not so bad at all compared to malaysia... oh god the amount of selfie sticks and smartphones and quiet tables because people were using phones when they were in a restaurant instead of talking to each others
I was walking through Queenstown botanical gardens with my wife and kids last holiday and there was a young couple lying on the ground with their arms round each other...but they were both playing on their phones.  When you're with your girlfriend/boyfriend in a beautiful setting, why would you want to be playing on your phone rather than taking in your surroundings?

The other thing that annoys me is the people that play with their phones while they're walking down the street rather than looking where they're going.
Terrorists will use EMPs now. That will surely cause more terror in most societies; as all those self-absorved iDumb users usually don't care about thousands killed as long as they can upload their next selfie.

Excluding apple???????? Apple is the most expensive one of all!!
The Apple watch that can sense when you're wearing it, measure heart rate, and self-lock/turn off when you're not wearing it apparently doesn't work on folk with tattooed arm sleeves. The darker the ink around your wrist, the more the watch thinks you're not a person. Was reading that yesterday, which made me laugh.

I meant that apple is overpriced but it's not useful because nobody really needs phone like that, 250 euro android phone is good enough nobody needs better

even my 250€ watch is more durable than this 300$ chunk of plastic
I can remember the good old days when your status symbol was the car you drove. The idea of a watch or a phone as a fashion accessory seems to me to be something from an Aldous Huxley novel.

I have a smart phone for which I have absolutely no use. I've never sent a text, accessed the internet or used an app.  It spends most of it's life with a flat battery in my coat pocket or on the passenger seat of my car. I'm going to get rid of it and get a simple flip phone. I do like the ability to take pictures though. In the event of a car wreck (I've been in three over the past five years) it can be invaluable to record the position of the vehicles and also get a shot of the other driver and his license plate before he flees the scene.

The biggest drawback with fancy phones is that the battery life shrinks with each new technological wonder. I want a phone that can hold a charge for ten days, not ten hours.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Same, I have samsung galaxy mega 2, cheap big and easy to use
Windows Phone is the best  :D
The worst thing about these Apple watches is that you have to have an iPhone to use it. At the moment it says "Requires an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus and iOS 8.2 or later.".

Most apple products only have a 2 year lifespan, which means that you'll end up with a chunk of hardware with an out of date OS, that newer apps won't run on.

What will happen to the watch in a couple of years time when you have an iPhone 8x+ with iOS 10.1, will it still work, or will it end up as a very expensive bangle?

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
Neil, maybe you're more Neolithic than you think ;) hehe
This watch is at moment ridiculous piece of crap.
Apple is overpriced for any products that they offer. Their technology is no a step ahead. It's just that others choose to not produce it.

I had an ipod once, that's the only apple product I have ever owned and unless I will get some for free, i don't think I will own one again. And if I get some apple product for free some day, i sell it to buy cheaper and actually better device by some other company.

I also think similarly to some others here, who already mentioned that the huge flaw with apple products is their short lifespan (they out their own products and literally make it so that you have to keep buying new) and their devices are often compatible only with their own devices.
No thanks, i stay away from that rubbish.

When it comes to smartphones I am swearing by mine. It makes my life much easier to manage.
There are three things to me that matter to me in my phone.
*txting
*calling
*Internet
I ever only have time to use computer at home on weekends. Therefore this little device is crucial for me and also to my work as txting, calling and doing other stuff in net all happens when im "on the go". Without this phone my business would also probably crumble.

When it comes to things like cameras, i prefere to use the real deal,  even though I do use the one in phone to send fast pics to people. Both, important pics and work related and also just the kind that i do for fun or when seeing something in shops that i think some of my loves ones may like. It's easy then to snap a pic, send it, and know if they like it before I buy it.

Computer games....wow... Yes I would use computer. Not phone... But no time.

Etc etc

Coming back to the main subject... There will be muppets buying this watch. Stupid,  lol.
Oh yes and I am one of these people neilithic hates who walk down the street nose in phone half of times. Like now. I'm in Numista forum always when walking down the street. Otherwise I just would not make time to be here....no time otherwise...

I'm in a tram right now so smartphones are useful because I can access internet anytime and the price of the phone doesn't matter because my 240€ phone has as good internet (if not better) than a 1000€ iphone 6 plus

Neilithic?  I'm an absolute dinosaur ;)

They really bother me, are we really that much busier than we were 20 years ago that we can't be without a phone for half an hour, or while we're walking or driving down the street?   The absolute worst thing I saw involving a smart phone was a few months ago when I was walking across the road (not on a phone) and someone was turning the corner and almost ran me over.  They had a sandwich in one hand, tapping away on their phone with the other hand, they were steering with their knees

What was so special about that watch?

Or rather, what was the name of the watch?

The links in the OP are taking me to more affordable watches, even though I would never buy one.

Agreed that certain watches are impossibly unaffordable.

I love the complicated watch mechanisms. Just reading about the evolution of watchmaking is fascinating.

Read about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourbillon.

Nadal used to wear an orange strap watch couple of years ago.

make - Richard Mille, $750,000 at that time.

Im actually impressed at the ultra model, can be used as a dive computer, can withstand -22c and 55c and is dustproof and full of survival/adventure gadgets. it's less than $1000 which I imagine is reasonable for such a compact thing that can do so much.

might be the only apple product thats well priced for its performance

certainly isn't a $17000 watch (none of the watches on that website were $17000 no idea where the hell that number came from)
