I have this coin, and I believe cupro-nickel to be silver in colour? My coin is a shiny gold colour, and it doesn't seem like its plated. Is my perception of cupro-nickel right?

Hello fliegendehollander,

According to Krause & Mishler, Uruguay KM#77 is struck in Copper-Nickel-Zinc and should measure 25mm and 7.1g. If the coin has been subject to weathering or oxidation then the zinc content could possibly cause the discolouration? However, if your coin weighs 14.53g then you have KM#77a, a 0.900 Gold Proof! Here's hoping!

Best regards, Rick
