Have I found the coin of a lifetime?
Weight: 25.2g
Diameter: 38mm
Also tested positive for silver.

Hi Werner,
Can you please post a picture with Higher resolution? The weight is less by more than a gram. I would be suspicious of authenticity.

This is the best I could do.
Yes I agree with the weight. But that just over a 1 gram missing, maybe due to worn?

Looks fake to me. Looks worn out but yet there are no scratches.
Try a magnet as it doesn't look like silver.
Also Watch out for the tooled date. Best way to do that is to compare the date part with a authentic piece and looks for any irregularities.

You don't have to do any of this stuff. The underweight is huge. Common sense dictates that you should first prove the existence of an 1895P Morgan Dollar (without a mint mark), like the one in your photos...

Underweight of 1 g > 99,99% fake
Maybe from the cave of alibaba...  :8D

I hope you didn't pay too much for it !

For the record, it's more like just over 1.5g missing. It's not that worn.
Just received something very similar, it's an 1878 Trade Dollar.
Not had time to weigh it yet, but the dimensions are correct, and it's not magnetic.

I knew it was a copy when I bought it (cost me £1.50, incl p&p), as I was curious. It was sold as a Miao Silver Collectable Coin. I know that Miao Silver isn't silver, in the same way that Nordic Gold isn't gold.

Fine for a novelty coin, it's even worn and has "tarnish" painted on it.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
Hi,

I don't have that particular coin, but go to this link to find documentation of other US counterfeight dollars

Thanks all for the expertize. also think its fake, seems like under a magnefying glass, a mint mark has been altered. might have been a "I".? also the "9" on 1895. stranglely it passed a silver and magentic test?
It might be made of copper nickel to avod the manetic test.

Which silver test did you use?

Sorry for the wait on a reply.
The test kit I use is "Puritest" with a test stone.
Checked again, it is not magnetic! maybe not a PF?
