Looks like the Kiyomizudera temple (Pure Water Temple) in Kyoto Japan, the reverse I dont know could be a map of Kyoto´s main attractions so I guess yeah a touristic medallion

Thanks apuking. I posted it on another site & got the same answer. The other person said, quote (It is a souvenir from the Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto, Japan). I had the piece for years & never knew what it was until today. They added a link ti a Wikipedia page on Kiyomizu-dera & the picture was spot on with the piece I have.
