what is this "Position A" and "Position B" about?
It's about the edge

Put your coin on a table so that you can see the obverse.
If you can read "BELGIQUE / BELGIE" on the edge, it's a Position A, otherwise it's Position B

(or the opposite ?    :.  )

Ah thanks
In my eyes this is a nonsense distinction
Do you know any coin where the edge inscription is always oriented the same way?
I know one: the Spanish 1 euro coins, but they just have segmented mills, so no upright and downright :`

Now I notice another thing: my coin 1939 BELGIE-BELGIQUE with star has not smooth but milled edge (I can identify the star between BELGIE and BELGIQUE, but I can't say if there's another star on the other side, the milling makes it quite hard to see anything).
