A longshot!!

Hi everyone

I bought a small bag of coins for next to nothing that I think are worth less than what I paid for them (£2) due to the extremely poor condition!!

I think they may have come out of the ornamental lake at Chatsworth house when it was recently drained, and hundreds of thousands of coins were retrieved and mostly banked!!

I actually bought some stamps from the lad and he mentioned these coins! I think he may have helped with the retrieval (he was handicapped).

There were a few of the cartwheel pennies, some young Victoria half and full pennies, and a few others that I have no idea what they are at all!!

All were covered in Verdigris  :snif:

Diameter is 19.25mm

Sorry about the condition of the coin but I think it's been underwater for around 150 years  :°

Some of the coins are scraped and mostly are copper (orange colour) this may be brass as it shines yellow.

Kind regards, John  :)
I used to be indecisive but now i'm not so sure!!
Check spade guinea under tokens, I can guarantee you'll find it.

Check out my Facebook, Kenneth Gucyski.
Here are the other coins, some are still quite thick and heavy but mostly seem to have eroded away  :(

This is a strange one, It's almost completely worn away but is yellow like the first one (but darker, may be bronze)  but much larger in diameter, a similar size to an old penny (UK 1d)..

All that I can make out is a rim of impressed Triangles around the periphery!!

Cheers, John  :)

Crumbs!!

Have I searched correctly, 1/2 Golden Guinea????   :o

Through my watchmakers loupe I can make out Georgivs 111 Del Gratia!!

Would there be a way of removing the verdigris to be able to see the coin or would this be a professional job??

Regards, John  :)
