Are they really Gold or are they perhaps the more common Brass pieces that have "Imitation Kruger Sovereign" on the reverse?

Hi Antoine, I am fascinated by the history behind the Z.A.R. coinage and have a few pieces myself (but none for swap, I'm afraid). As a matter of interest, what did you pay for your threepence?

Looks like quite a nice example, maybe F+ or VF-, perhaps a few scratches keeping the grade down. NGC doesn't post any values below VF20 but I would say the price you paid was about right :)
