Many member prefer to swap at a speed which ranges from slow to glacial. Sometimes it's because of a lack of time. Currently slow page loads are making it impossible for some North American members to even access swap lists.
Non responses to swap offers are often because it's an inactive account It may also be that the member is looking for specific coins or is only willing to trade within their own borders or doesn't want to trade with new members because of the theft risk.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

Yep, although most would try and let you know that they are super busy at moment and that they will contact you in a while.
Some just get caught doing their other stuff and forget there was swap offers pending.
You can try and write them once more, just in case if they meant to write back and actually forgot, which happens to me often...I often think, oh yeah, I have to answer that mail "later", only to realize 3 days later that I still haven't.
But yea, as pnightingale said, people can also be unactive. When you go to your sent mail box, you can see if they have even gotten to read the message that you sent or not. Check at the letter sign before ur letter.
I think it might be their way of saying "I don't want to swap with you anymore'' politely. I'd rather have them say it loud and clear than make me wait and waist a bunch of other good swaps.
Guilty
I don't like to say "no" to honest, normal trade offers, but I answer them promptly.
Its when an offer comes flying red flags or negotiations start to go sideways...
I have to admit when I have nothing nice to say, I say nothing, for a long time.

I was mainly talking about contacting a member for the first time. The offers just sit there, and sit there.
Shouldn't they be using the "I'm asleep and don't want to swap" option?
Yes, they would use "I'm not trading at moment" sign if they are serious active users who just temporarily don't have time to swap.
But there is loads of people who only log in every few months or so and do some swaps every now and then. "Being active member" has different meaning to different people. For some people logging in once in two months probably is active because they are not thinking about their collection every day.
And for other people logging in once in two days isn't even active enough.
Also there's people who were active, then logged out and will never log back in again for several reasons. It will take 3 months for their account to show up as unactive; until then they still show on website as active, even though they might never ever log in again. I guess if you dont have answer from someone very very long, try to find someone else who has coin that u want. If there isn't anyone else... just hope that one day in future he/she will remember that he has account in Numista.
I'm a stalker, I am always loitering around the site
So far only 1 guy left me hanging on a trade offer, he offered, I replied, added the coins I was interested on and then silence. I waited three days and then simply turned down the deal.
