I like to give myself goals when collecting. These are my top 10 actively searching for coins, this list is for the U.K. - it includes very common coins and some harder to get years, and also a type that I don't have any examples of. I find it useful to do this!!
Any Edward VII florin https://en.numista.com/catalogue/photos/royaume-uni/g4025.jpg
1959 shilling Scottish crest https://en.numista.com/catalogue/photos/royaume-uni/g176.jpg
1961 shilling Scottish crest https://en.numista.com/catalogue/photos/royaume-uni/g176.jpg
1964 shilling English crest https://en.numista.com/catalogue/photos/royaume-uni/g187.jpg
1952 sixpence
1958 threepence
1915 threepence
1938 farthing
1955 farthing
1953 penny
Then when I have completed this hitlist I will make another top ten for another country in my collection.
I find this gives my coin search a bit of focus, whilst doing this I try to fill the rest of the gaps in my collection but it is a secondary consideration.
Does anyone else have a similar approach?
Marc
