Recently, I was in a shop to buy something and I was looking to my euros and I thought to myself: "Mmm, you stupid euro's, why aren't you dollars, pounds, yen or anything a bit special?"
That made me really interested in the change from somebody else of a non-euro country.
So if you don't pay with euros in your country, then I'd like to see with what sort of money you're paying your stuff with!

Any interesting or shiny coins that I get in pocket change, I put on the tabletop and every few months I have a tidy up and decide what I am going to do with them. Those coins in the first picture are the ones that I have had for a while, so someday soon will put them in the relevant bags; so I can find them if needed. The shiny coins I get are put in a large bag (top of second picture), in case a member wants any; most of those are 2010 2011 2012 and 2013 dates.

Yeah, the Netherlands ditched them out of circulation, but shop owners are forced to accept them as a legal tender, as it's a legal tender in the other euro countries. Finland ditched them as well, that's why you see so little 1 and 2 eurocents from Finland in circulation. I thought Belgium was going to do the same thing, but for now you can still see them in your change in Belgium. But you find them in your change a lot less if you're near the border between the Netherlands and Belgium.

I love the Transnistrian coins! I got 3 dollar coins in my change... Tried to upload the photo but I guess it's too big. In the last 2 months I got 2 silver quarters, 2 silver dimes, and a silver war nickel. Gotta check everything.
Time to revive an ancient thread, if nothing else some of the coins could have changed in 7 years.
A months collecting of coins and note here. The $20 is an old series and being phased out - but still legal tender (1999 - 2014 type6).
Coins shown are from smallest to biggest (Copper 10 cents), Scalloped 20c and Round 50c silver coloured and the brass coins are $1 small and $2 large. Designs are $2 Kotuku (Heron), $1 Kiwi (Apteryx bird), 50c - Endeavour (Ship of Cook), 20c Pukaki (Maori carved gateway) and 10c Maori carved mask
I save all change and every few months give it to my nieces and nephews.

In the Netherlands, more than half of all the payments are made with debit card. Unfortunately, there are many places where cash is not accepted at all.
Same here in Sweden. But make that number to at least 95%.
A better selection. This lot is from my stamp club's auction proceeds.
People bring some stamps to sell at the meeting and the club gets 10% commission, the other 90% to the vendor. It is my job to payout the vendors and thus I encourage payment in change rather than like $20 notes. Many items are a few dollars, so a $20 for a $1 item is really annoying. But if its to pay for like a $20+ item, thats okay.
Here I have a modern selection of the widely used banknotes, $20, $10 and $5. The dollar is worth about 60 eurocents and 50pence.
The 10 and 5 are shown both sides. These are the new series (2016-) notes, the older post shows the old $20. All the coins from $2 to 10 cents are also shown.
Total here is $96.
The Purple $50 is seldom used, but dispensed from some ATM's and red $100 practically unknown, only really seen in the casino and with drug dealers!

Most of our paper money is not issued by the government, it's issued by one of three banks (HSBC, Bank of China and Standard Chartered). As a result, there's a lot of diversity in our change, as you can see from the two different $50 (green) banknotes. They've recently released a new set of banknotes too.
The only exception is the $10 polymer banknote, which is the only banknote issued by the government. It's also the only polymer banknote we have.
All coins are issued by the government as well. If you look closely you'll see a QEII coin, a relic of our colonial past. They're still legal tender.

Love it - remember Hong Kong when I was there in 2014.
I built up a good reservoir of coins and notes when I went there, but alas sold them - so now just have mostly change from 10c to $10 and older coins back to 1949.
Loved the $10 notes and saw at least 3 dates in 2014 - 2002 and 2004 paper and then 2007 Polymers. Remembered we got about $2000 on the overseas cash card and it gave us Brown $500 notes - Bank of China, HSBC and Chartered.
Then went to Macau and found their notes were almost the same - and worth the same, our $500HK got us 515 Patacas, we spent bugger all - most on a cyclo and some hot ice cream thing - came back with 275Patacas (The cyclo cost us 200 - so we spent little!).
Also just remember in 2014 - the new 2012 dated $2 and $5 coins had just been released and stood out amongst the worn 1980s - 1998 coins then.

I never understood the intention anyway have a banknote of 5000 CZK they are used very little so they are unused in banks.

I know my wife in the beginning would pack my bags.

Beautiful currency. Not after anything - but do they use the 50 Korun coin there? I have one in my 2000 set and its a beautiful coin, but notice its missing from your pile.

I guess it's my time to say something good about someone else's country :-)
Been to Czechia in Summer 2018 I believe, it's a really beautiful country, have to admit. The Museum of Communism was quite a sobering experience, as well as the nuclear bunker tour. Touched the dog at the Charles Bridge so I gotta return someday :-)
I got myself a full set of Czech circulating coins when I was there, can't say the same for notes though. I'll get them when I go back.
Ps. Moneytane when we travel to Macau, HK dollars can often be used in place of Macau Patacas. The values are similar enough that underpaying by a bit in HK dollars is not considered a problem.

This coin was rated the most beautiful between coins in the last popular international competition. It's a nice coin.
Here is Australia you do see quite a few circulating commemoratives. It's nice to have 50 years of circulating coins, although the oldies are often quite worn and corroded. As for the newest portrait of Queen Elizabeth, I have not seen any so far.

Thanks, saw it and I bought some world coins off my ladies the other day and a nice pile of Czech coins including my own 50 Korun coin! Means I have one not just in a set. Just need the 10 now!

As a coin roll hunter, I get a few coins (asking around during the shortage). However, the bank employees now have to roll the coins themselves, I don't want to burden them any more than I have to (I usually take some bags of coins so they don't have to roll them). However, due to the coin shortage, I have to pay with exact change at self-checkout so I get no coins. Here is my next set of change to spend (so I can spend any amount from $1-$2.04)
I'll post the next time I actually get some change from the store.

Well to be honest, you hardly see any now, as the Covid 19 pandemic has seen our stores treat coins like they have the plague.
Also they are worth almost nothing, average beer costed about $12 a glass last time I went to the pub in 2017.
I don't go to pubs now, mainly as I can't really drink beer (Too gassy after 1) and I gave up pokie machines last year (Here in NZ, the machines are in rooms attached to pubs).
I can send you a pair of Endeavours if you like, old and new.

No shortage of change (coins) here in Canada: at least I haven't seen anything in the news about it.

There used to be quite a sneer here when paying with cash since the Feb pandemic lockdowns since Canadians rapidly embraced cashless commerce years ago but now (fortunately) you see a lot of homemade signs in stores stating "WE ACCEPT CASH." I guess now that the landlords have come a knocking on their doors expecting rent, retailers have become less fussy.
