MPCC III: What do you want?

9 posts
What do you want? I want to know what I should do to improve the contest, not how bad it is!
I mentioned on the other thread I would prefer to see a tennis draw style for the contest.  I noticed in the last one that some coins were up 4 or 5 rounds in a row.  In my opinion it would be better if it was set out like this

It would probably make it quicker too.

I also liked someone else's suggestion of just selecting the best coin to go in the competition if more than one of the same type are submitted.  we seemed to have a few Morgan or Peace dollars and both you and I submitted the Japan 50 sen coins

Ey, you liked my suggestion! :D

Like everyone else, I want the competition to be stalled until Autumn, no later than January.

Ah, but that's already the case. The actual contest doesn't start till January.

So like this?

Winners in brackets.

Round 1: A vs B (B)
Round 2. C vs D (C)
Round 3. E vs F (E)
Round 4. G vs H (H)

And so on until all the coins competed, and then

B vs C (B)
E vs H (E)

And so on, and then

B vs E (Doesn't matter)

And so on

Problem with that is that the number of coins has to be an exponent of two. Like 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64.

Yes that's the idea. It doesn't have to be a multiple of 2, you can have some coins go straight through to the second round if it's not in a multiple of 2. Coins that would obviously go well in the competition, at your discretion, could be put straight through to the second round. That's the way we run our tennis competitions when we've got an odd number of players. The seeds go straight through to the second round - and the rest fight for the chance to go through to the second round.
I agree. With Neilithic I would prefer it this way and the coins have to be chosen randomly, so that when it's not an even number the coin that will go through has been chosen randomly.
