Dashboard map - errors and suggestions

Hello,

I've just been looking at my world coin map and realised a few things. Firstly, there are are a few countries that come up wrong or in French: Tchad should be Chad; Cameroun should be Cameroon. Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivoire don't come up at all.

Also, when you've got the map Maximised, when you hover over the islands on the far right, the names appear off the screen! For those ones perhaps you could make the names appear to the left of the cursor?

Finally, it might be nice to be able to zoom in a bit more - sometimes it's hard to see some of the countries!

Thanks,
Alastair
Alastair,
The name 'Cote d'Ivoire' is actually the French for 'Ivory Coast',which is still commonly used in English.

I noticed that the French name 'Andorre' shows up as well, instead of the English name 'Andorra'.

As to Burkina Faso, there has been very few medal-coin issues from there, but there was a few from when it was still called 'Upper Volta'.

Hi,

Yes I'm well aware about Cote d'Ivoire. If you reread my message I said that it didn't show up at all. (On a side note, though, the name for the country in the Country List is Ivory Coast.)
I've also noticed that not all of the older countries show up on the map, like what usually happens with successor states on the map. For example, when I scroll over the United Kingdom, it shows the number of UK and Isle of Man coins I have in my collection, but not my old pre-union Scottish coin. And scrolling over the Netherlands, my Dutch Republic coin isn't shown. And Congo Free State & Belgian Congo coins aren't shown as part of my Democratic Republic of Congo collection.
Magus,
Congo Free State & Belgian Congo are listed separately from the Democratic Republic of the Congo,as is Zaire.

I don't mean in the country listings, I mean on the dashboard map. For example, if I scroll over Russia, I get a box showing that there are 7 Russian and 4 Soviet Union coins in my collection. But if I scroll over the Democratic Republic of Congo, the box shows that there are a DRC coin and a Zaire coin in my collection, but doesn't mention my Belgian Congo and Congo Free State coins. Do you understand what I'm talking about now?
Another example to revive this topic: scrolling over Sri Lanka doesn't bring up my Ceylon coins.
If I click on Soviet Union, from where I have 6 coins, it writes "You don't have any coin for the moment. (...) " India - British, too (1 coin).
Yes, I've noticed it does that for any country that you have coins for that isn't a 'modern' one. So if you click on modern Croatia but you only have coins for Yugoslavia, it will give that error message. But if you have coins for both, it'll bring up the Croatian ones.
like the previous posters said,
I think it's strange that when I hover the mouse over Belarus (no coins at all), I see the tooltip legend Belarus, but not a link to anywhere (naturally wouldn't make sense)
but when I hover over Kaliningrad, I only see the countries as legend where I have coins and not the name of the "main" country, and I get a link to the main country, where in this case I don't have any coins.
Shuldn't it better list all matching countries in the tooltip message?
In this case, it even links to Danzig, which isn't exactly at that place. Danzig should be a sub-country of Poland. Kaliningrad should link to Russia and have German Empire/States/Reich and Soviet Union as sub-countries

by the way, I'm very often missing a direct way to get to all coins from a specific country from the map, or from the page of my coins from that country, without going over the "Country list" page
on St. Lucia, "Eastern Caribbean" appears twice
South Sudan needs to be added.

This is the world's newest country, which seceded to become independent from Sudan on the 9th. of July 2011.

Have a read here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Sudan .

Here's an article about this country's currency; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Sudanese_pound .

It isn't yet known when the South Sudanese coins will be coming out though.

When I place my mouse over Poland, the map shows me current coins from Poland as well as historic coins of that region such as the German Empire.

By that same logic, the former Soviet republics like Belarus and Kazakhstan should show me Soviet Union coins as well as post-independence coins.
The exclave part of Angola, beyond the Congo Dem Rep, is not linked with the country, which gives me a grey spot on the map
instead, it shows the name of the province, "Cabinda", which, as a province, naturally doesn't even have a different currency than the rest of the country ;)
Looking at the Country list, there does appear to be a selection of bizarre-looking (perhaps commemorative) coins from Cabinda:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/cabinda-1.html

Though I agree that it should still be linked to the main Angola category on the map as well.
Those things bearing Cabinda's name are NOT coins at all!

They have as much legitimacy as those things bearing the name 'REDONDA' - total fantasies!

Let's catalogue REAL coins,NOT the junk that has been wrongly listed in Krause's 'Unusual World Coins'!

On the map there is a tiny island that poppes up as being part of Sao Tomé and Principe. It is true that this country has a tiny island North East of the main island, but Equatorial Guinea has a larger island than that off the coast of Cameroon, which in fact is even larger than the main island of Sao Tomé and Principe. So as I see it, that island near Cameroon should pop up as Equatorial Guinea.

Besides that: I suggest to either add an empty strip of white on the right side of the maximized World map, to make sure that every name becomes visible properly when moving the mouse for example above Tuvalu, or even better, to program that the names of countries pop up on the left side of the mouse for all nations for example on the right side of the map or on the right side of Australia.

Another suggestion is to also create maps for the different continents, to make it easier to find small nations, as a selection option above/below ‘maximize’.

Apart from these little issues: awesome map, love it!

Besides coins I love geometry. The avatar consists of each of the 35 hexominoes used precisely once. With the 5 large yellow shapes placed like this, the solution for tiling the remaining 30 hexominoes is unique.
