Hi, I just started collecting foreign coins mainly for the beauty of the different designs, but it is addictive. Where is a good place to find coins relatively inexpensive to get going? I don't have any to trade yet, and I am a little nervous about buying on ebay. Thank you for your suggestions, David
I don't have any particular country I am collecting, but I do enjoy trying to figure out the dates (coins with no numbers) using this site!
If you want to acquire mixed coins from around the world, try buying one or two bulk lots at auction for a start. Also, try and find people with coins to sell locally. Someone is bound to have a few.
I hope you find this site as enjoyable and interesting to use as I do.

Hello David, welcome to the site. If you do decide to use eBay make sure you check their feedback, and see if they have been selling individual coins, if you're planning on buying job lots. If they have then you know you're getting the leftovers from a well-picked lot.
Thank you for the advice, actually that is how I get started in collecting the foreign coins was buying from a local person. They are very limited. I will keep my eyes open, there is a coin show this coming weekend.
Where can I find bulk lots at auction? I think this would be the way to get started rather than buying coins a few at a time. Plus then maybe I will have some to swap with you.
Hi David!
Welcome to the site! I think you'll be happy here......it's a great bunch with a wonderful variety of interests and information! I just go into the message board side of this myself, and I'm very glad I did.
