I never really bother with them, they aren't as historically interesting. I had a 1953 proof set given by relatives, but the most of the plastic wallets were broken, so I removed the coins from it.

I love sets just yesterday I picked up a 1972 New Zealand specimen set and a 1973 British Virgin Islands proof set.. my favorite so far would be my 1964 Siera Leone proof set.

I do not have many sets. I have the UK design changeover sets, 2008/2009 I think. I also have a few Euro blister packs. I think this would have to be my favourite out of all my sets...
That proof set of Westward Journey nickels (all three mints) was sent to me by a member.
I also have the never-issued Euro coin set 2003 for United Kingdom.
Just remembered I also have a first decimal UK set, and the Espana '82 football set.
While looking for them I found two more sets -
the Heinz 1983 UK coin set (does not contain the rare 2p NEW PENCE coin) and Danmark 2002 DANSKE PRØVE EURO set.
Finally, now found this 1992 UK ECU set (not ecu the old French coin, but E.C.U. as in European Currency Unit, before the Euro started) ...
I'm either too busy or lazy to get some photos, but looking at my coin sets, I have a lot.

It's a very nice coin, although extremely common.
Yes, it has all the circulating coins plus the 100 and 1000 Olympic yen pieces. I think the two sets were around 50 bucks together, but it was really worth it (they were sold as two sets).

Well if you say so - until he put his head through a door, ate a 1964 50 cent coin, and ripped up the carpet.
Don't you while you work anymore?
I always while I work bam but today I am off and am doing house chores and paying bills and caring for my dogs and household. When a man works a minimum wage job at 40 plus hours a week and his wife does the same, dishes pile up from two boys and the dogs and cats need attention. I did not mean any offence in the past - sorry if I offended you in any way.

Haha I swapped my coin sets for a dog - that's great !
Did you not rake through the dogs poop for that 50c ?
If my dog ate one of my silver Canadian half dollars I would check the poo with my tongue if I needed to. HA !

Ya - I got the coin back before he ingested it but it was bent and ripped so I melted it and made him a name tag out of it as a reminder to myself not to leave my valued coins out where he can get to them...just goes to show that I'm a fool and he has good taste in coins.

I never really saw the purpose of coin sets myself, the same with the stamp sets you can get as well. I like to have my coins in flips so I can move them around in my folders or take them out and look at them.
this is my only set (I don't collect sets, don't even have an Albanian one!) But I don't know whether is a genuine one of South African Mint or put together from a dealer....I ask those questions here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic18790.html
Can just one coin be a set - as in this one I knew I had somewhere but could not find until this morning ...
But it is not one coin as such - it shows in stages how a bimetal coin is made, so the 'set' is the different parts. On the first image below, the lower right is see-through as it only has the outer ring.
Made in the U.K. by the Royal Mint in 1994 as a trial piece, and features a never-used ship design on the reverse. Also does not say £2 on it. Here are closer images of reverse and obverse from the package ...
I got the set years ago - as I wanted to have a complete set of all U.K. £2 coins, and I thought it looked nice. I guess others have since caught on to these as they are well expensive nowadays.
Just received these over the weekend from a good friend in Holland (1st July 2024). They contain a variety of 1999, 2000 and 2001 Dutch Euro coins and we're apparently available for the public to buy from banks or the post office just after the Euro came into circulation.
Fantastic condition coins now right from the start of the new currency.
