I get the impression that the bust of Pedro V has an angry, furious expression on the 500-reis coin minted in 1859, unlike the sober, formal expression of his bust on coins from other years. Although all catalogs show that there are no differences in the 1857–58–59 series, this unique feature of the 1859 coin strike me as curious and interesting.
