1 Groot - Charles V Antwerp Counter Marked? [solved]

3 posts • viewed 56 times

I have struggled to identify this coin due to a few similar variations but I’ve narrowed it down to this one. I wanted to find out more about the counter mark on this coin, any sources or help would be appreciated!

If the size and weight are correct, it appears to be a groot of Flanders, N#127001  (fleur-de-lis mint mark reverse)

countermarked with a tower, possibly used in the 1521 Siege of Tournai:  https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5229870

Tournai used a tower as its mint mark.

That seems to be it! image search didn’t really help but I’m happy I was close at least.

Thank you for the help :)
