How to store coins

4 posts • viewed 70 times

Hi all,

I have been collecting coins for a long time and a few years ago started putting them in Optima Hullen sheets. Now that I'm having a few more thanks to this site, I was wondering if that is the better place to have them or not. I have seen much cheaper Temu-like products, but I doubt them. I would like to balance a good storage with an easy way of seeing the coins. Any advice you could give me?

Thanks in advance!

There are already quite a few comprehensive threads about the topic. I suggest browsing through them and see if further questions arise.

And no, don't use cheap unknown stuff to store coins you care about or want to resell off at some point. I suggest don't start buying temu crap in the first place (bad for your wallet, the planet and your country's economy).

Thanks, mate. I assumed there was already a thread on this, but were not able to find any.

I think most people probably use “flips” now, but ensure they are without PVC. They fold over, one pocket for coin, the other for ID card (large & regular size). The cardboard “2x2” is still sold, but the coin is difficult to remove, requires staples (or Euro seal strips) and provides little room for documentation. Both of those can be slipped into vinyl sheets that hold (~20, depends on size), the sheets are holed for a ring binder. Then there are coin cabinets, antique wood or Euro plastic ones (of which I can sell you, used but in excellent condition). All of it can be found under Books and Supplies (or something like that) on eBay, coin shops, or on-line retailers (maybe “Collection.com” or similar).
