F.329 1852 A - different mint mark sizes.

I have a question about mintmark A. I've found two types of mintmarks in my collection, a large one and a small one. Can this be classified as a variant, or were such variations quite common on coins from this period?

Thank you for the information.

Please, try to make the macro images comparable. They have to be exactly the same crop (size), yours are not (count the beads on the rim!), hence it's very difficult to answer your question.

The red boxes are identical size.

Agreed the size MM is identical and looks more like a placement difference in the MM to my eye.

Thanks for confirming, what I thought. It's maybe just another placement, but are we sure the OP's original images are correctly cropped?

Doesn't matter. I use the picture of both coins together so same magnification.
