Such tiny medieval denarii are probably one of the most difficult branches of numismatics – and still not fully described. I think the coin is single-sided, as the other side is concave. Single-sided denarii are called bracteates, but this coin looks different from them. Well, I'll just have to search the sources for the most similar specimen. I've also listed this coin on several other forums – unfortunately, no response so far. Mysteries are the most intriguing ;)
