Please help identify this coin.

I am driving myself crazy trying to figure this one out!  Please help.

Obverse and Reverse are exactly as described in the catalogues for a George III Guinea (see photos).  Diameter is 24mm (1 in).  Date is 1783/85/88 (?) - last two digits are ambiguous.  It is non metallic.  My research makes me hope it is a GIII Guinea EXCEPT it is copper coloured (attached photos are colour not B&W)!
