Germany 1 Euro 2002-D: Major 180° rotation error and significant die chip on map

4 posts • viewed 59 times

Hello everyone,

I would like to share and get some feedback on this German 1 Euro coin from 2002 (Mint mark D). I have identified a double error on this specimen:

1. 180° Rotation (Stempeldrehung): The reverse is completely upside down compared to the obverse when flipped horizontally.

2. Significant Die Chip on Map: There is a large area of raised metal on the map side, connecting parts of the map above the word "EURO" and around Scandinavia. It is much more prominent than typical minor die chips.

The coin has been in circulation, but both errors are very clear. Is this specific die chip well-known for the 2002-D mintage? I would appreciate any info regarding rarity and an estimated collector value for this double-error combination.

Thank you!

Already answered on the first post:

A 2002 dated 2 euro with the “Europa second map” is impossible!

Forgery…

Sorry about the double post, it was a technical error/glitch on my end. I didn't intend to post it twice.
