The only people trying to sell something like that are those trying to scam unsuspecting people into believing it's a rare mint error.

Agreed: definitely “post mint damage” meaning it was used and abused over the years. When, why, and by whom we'll never know.

Spend it.

PS: my first guess was “road rash,” meaning someone dropped it in a parking lot and it was run over a few times, but who knows!?
