I need help attributing this Follis [solved]

4 posts • viewed 76 times

It is a follis & does have a cross above & an A below. It shows the word ANNO on the left & II/II to the right, indicating the 4th year of this emperors reign. The obverse appears to show 2 standing figures, each holding a globus cruciger. My best guess is that these figures are Heraclius & his son Heraclius Constantine. Possibly a restrike?

This is as far as Reddit has been able to get me. Can someone confirm this, or explain if it is incorrect?

Hello. It is a coin of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine (610-641 AD). It's overstruck on a coin of Phocas and Leontia (602-610 AD)

I believe you are correct.

I believe you are correct with your attribution. Would you be so kind as to explain why you believe it's that specific Phocas coinage? I'm new to this stuff and would like to learn. 😊
