From a question raised by another Numista user, we have come to the conclusion that a new mint entry is needed.

I would like to propose the following mint:
Gangneung Great Regional Military Command (江陵大都護府 (Gangneung-daedohobu)), modern-day Gangneung, South Korea (1742-1752)

This institution was a military-centered provincial administrative office located in Gangneung, with significant regional authority. Since there is no exact equivalent term in English, I have translated it as “Regional Military Command.” If a more accurate or appropriate English designation exists, I would be grateful if it could be used instead.

Although Old Coins of Korea lists it as “江陵都護府 (Gangneung Regional Military Command),” both historical records and modern Korean institutional references indicate the more formal designation “江陵大都護府 (Gangneung Great Regional Military Command),” which I propose here.

The coins attributed to this mint include the following:
N#303599

Currently, these coins are listed on Numista as being minted by the Kangwon Provincial Office.

World Coins catalogue  and several Korean catalogues also attribute them to the Kangwon Provincial Office.

However, the most authoritative classical numismatic reference in Korea, Old Coins of Korea, states that these coins were minted at the Gangneung Great Regional Military Command. In addition, I have not found any experts or serious numismatic communities in Korea that dispute this attribution.

Therefore, I request the addition of a new mint entry:
Gangneung Great Regional Military Command (江陵大都護府 (Gangneung-daedohobu)), modern-day Gangneung, South Korea (1742-1752)
