Prussia Wilhelm Koenig Medal/Medallion [solved]

I have this Item and have no idea where I got it. It has the very beautiful and very familiar obverse with a reverse I cannot explain or match anywhere. Why would someone eliminate the very beautiful normal reverse and feature this legend even on a cheap replica of a otherwise beautiful Gold or Silver coin or medal?

I believe it to be Brass or Bronze

 It has redrawn portraits by someone named WINTER below them  

 where the original lettering 

ZUR KROENUNG AM 18.OCT. 1861 

has been replaced. 

 Probably made for those who could not afford gold or silver versions.

 Lastly, just as I suspected it used to be a medallion, 

with a hanging loop, now removed - explaining the damage 

at the top of both of your pictures.

Thanks, that makes sense now and I did not notice the tiny difference on the obverse where “Winter” is located instead of the normal script.
