Trade dollars

I was wondering why canadian trade dollars such as the Buffalo days dollar, etc are listed under the Canada banner, though are not canadian legal Tender? I wonder this because when I set my collection to “all” they are along side loonies and silver dollars. As opposed to event tokens.

Because (right or wrong) they are categorized as Local coins under the Numista type Coins:  Coins that are issued for usage in a city or small region within a country. They circulate alongside the coins of the country. Their goal is usually to support the local economy.

They are NOT coins!

They are local tokens.

Aidan.

I classify them with Canadian tokens , they are used locally at fairs and some retail outlets  in the designated areas. Some areas of the UK such as Lewis and Bristol did this experiment with locally produced pound notes.  Theoretically they are modern era condor tokens
