Im newer to coin collecting and looking for any with know as to if this wheat penny is on the more rare end of the scale or just  another common coin. after a little research id done, I want to say it’s on the more of the rare end. Errors including double die errors, clipped planchet, and misspelling on word liberty, where the supposed B is an 8.  I’d appreciate anyone that’s willing know anyone has about this coin

Looking to gain some knowledge on coins of U.S. and foreign coins.

Hello and welcome to Numista!

Everything you see on that coin is post mint damage (PMD). None of it is a “mint error.”  LI8ERTY on a die would be an extremely famous mint error but it does not exist.

I am guessing AI had something to do with what you thought?

rsirian1 is 100% correct in his assessment, if you really want to learn (as stated in your post), stay away from AI, and accept now that you will never find a rare mint error, overlooked proof or unknown variety in the coins you come across. There is no golden goose to coin collecting (like you will never win millions in a lottery), however unlike the lottery, numismatics is interesting and there are 1000s of books, internet sites, etc to learn from. Once you have spent years learning about what to look for (knowledge of coin series, history of coins, types of coins, types of errors, coin grades, minting process, forgeries, etc, etc) them you might find something rarer than the run of the mill everyday coins. And you will certainly have more knowledge, experience and Intelligence than AI.

This website is a great place to learn and manage your collection. Welcome and enjoy.

„If your reply or post in the Forum stinks of AI, I will call you out! Knowledge comes from experience, the I in AI stands for incompetence.“
