Hello everyone!
This dupondius I own has been very suspicious to me for a while now, the weight is incorrect (7,54 g), the metal is so low quality it looks like those logs eaten by worms you see outside sometimes and the SC, oh the SC is just awful. It looks like the handwriting of a toddler and for some reason has a comma between the two letters. So for these reasons I’ve decided to ask the forum, have you seen similar imitations of Augustus coins anywhere? Personally I haven’t seen these barbarous counterfeits anywhere earlier than Marcus Aurelius, so might this one have any added value for age reasons? Thanks in advance for any insights given!
